School-Based Evaluations and Participation in Multidisciplinary Team Meetings
"Early identification and intervention provide struggling learners with a head start,
a sense of accomplishment, and increased self-esteem."
A thorough school evaluation begins with insight into the student’s unique problem-solving abilities. Understanding and observing the student’s approach to problem-solving helps to determine each type of test that will be administered. Thorough and detailed information about the student’s learning needs, developmental history, and family dynamics are necessary to facilitate a good school-based evaluation. A thorough school-based evaluation adheres to ethical decision making and best practices that are consistent with Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA).
